- Job Details
- Acute Intermediate Care/Progressive Care/Step-down patients including chronic tracheostomy/ventilator support, neuro-surgical patients including non-complicated back surgeries/VP shunts/stable subdural hematoma monitoring.
- DKA on insulin IV gtt.
- Other patient populations include respiratory conditions, vasoactive gtts, GI bleed, ETOH withdrawal, behavioral and substance abuse patients, renal.
- Emergent intubation may take place in this unit then the patient will be transferred to a higher level of Critical Care.
- Procedures taking place in the unit may include chest tube/line insertion, blood transfusion, lab draws, bedside endoscopy/bronch.
- Job Requirements
- Registered Nurse
- ACLS/BLS certified
- Schedule Information
- Shift times: 1900-0730
- No standing 'on-call' requirements; rarely may be put on call if low volume
- Every third weekend & holiday rotation. If call in on your scheduled weekend to work, will be required to make up that weekend.
- Unit Specific Information
- Number of Beds – 37 beds; 10 are acuity/ventilator adaptable
- Number of Staff – 60-70 team members
- Day Shift - 1 charge/12-13 RN/3-4 PCA/1 HUC (may vary based on patient acuity levels).
- Night Shift - 1 charge/12-13 RN/3-4 PCA/1 HUC (may vary based on patient acuity levels).
- Patient Ratios – 1:3-4 patients; based on acuity levels may have one or two assignments of 1:2 ratio
- Type of equipment – ventilators, bipap, high-flow/salter NC oxygen delivery. All patients are on wall mounted cardiac monitors. End-tidal CO2 monitor may be used for specific patient requirements. Alaris IV pumps, Vocera communication device
