As a Junior Accountant, you will report to the Accounting Manager and assists with multiple duties in regards to accounting functions of Charter Schools USA within established deadlines. The Staff Accountant provides a wide variety of customer services for school locations.

How You Will Impact Education

Instruction/Education Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements for multiple entities, which includes the following:
    • Perform bank reconciliations
    • Prepare and post required journal entries
    • Review & reconcile all balance sheet accounts
    • Prepare summary of significant events and budget variances
  • Prepare supporting documentation for financial statements including balance sheet schedules and other reconciliations
  • Work closely with independent auditors during annual financial statement audit with preparing schedules and invoices, providing explanations of supporting materials and procedures, and preparing any other necessary data.
  • Posting of accounts to the General Ledger for:
    • Accounts Receivable
    • Cash Receipts
    • Accounts Payable
    • Cash Disbursements
    • Payroll
  • Maintain records of all financial documents with appropriate supporting material, update records as necessary.
  • Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, schools, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
  • Provide support such as schedules, data, information, etc. for the annual budget process.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting or related field.
  • 1-3 years bookkeeping or other relevant accounting experience
  • Computer Basics -- MS Windows (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); proficiency in accounting software.
