GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of a department supervisor, performs responsible skilled multidisciplinary technical work in the field of construction inspection of residential and commercial projects. Work involves inspection in assigned building trades of a variety of projects completed by contractors for compliance with specifications, ordinances and regulations. Work may also include investigating, enforcing and resolving complaints regarding city codes ardinances pertaining to signs, housing, litter, overgrowth, abandoned vehicles, garbage containers and dump sites. Assists with supervision of subordinate personnel. Worksi reviewed by superiors through written reports, conferences and results obtained. Performs other work as requested.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma, GED, HiSET, or equivalent certificate of competency, and four years in code inspection, construction inspection, or building construction work.

SUBSTITUTIONS
Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS
(Unless otherwise specified below, must possess at the time of appointment and must be maintained current throughout employment in this classification.) Employee(s) of this classification must be registered with the Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code Council. Also, employee(s) must be certified as an Inspector by the International Code Council (or equivalent organization) in tial residen and commercial in all of the following disciplines: building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing. Certification as a Certified Building Official (CBO) by the International Code Council (or equivalent organization) may subsittute for certification as an Inspector by the International Code Council (or equivalent organization) in both residential and commercial in all of the following disciplines: building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing. Must have a valid Louisiana driver's license at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment in this classification.
