GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the general direction of a Division Chief, acts in the capacity of assistant to a division chief of Baton Rouge City Court performing highly responsible complex work of a supervisory nature. Work involves assisting the division chief in overseeing the services provided to the public and to the Court in the appointed division and assisting with the assignment, direction, coordination, and evaluation of the division's supporting clerical, legal, and/or fiscal services. Work may also involve supervising special projects and performing highly responsible administrative work supporting the management of clerical, legal, and/or fiscal matters within City Court and affiliated agencies such as the City Prosecutor, Public Defender, Constable, and /or other entities. Duties also involve assisting the Clerk of City Court/Judicial Administrator, Court Administrators, or City Court Judges. By rules of the Court and the laws of the State, an employee of this classification is an officer of the Court and must certify for the Court legal documents before being processed. Supervision is exercised over a staff of clerical, legal, and/or fiscal personnel. Performs other work as requested or assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree in business, criminal justice, accounting, finance, social sciences, or a related field, and three years of experience in progressively responsible clerical, legal, law enforcement, or fiscal work, including two years of supervisory experience.
