The City of Edmonton's Community Services Department is seeking a Communications Coordinator to join our Communications & Engagement team. What you will do:
- Support the creation and execution of comprehensive marketing and communication plans, including collateral, campaigns, and advertising
- Develop event plans, educational material, coordinate logistics, and/or lead volunteers/personnel for events and community initiatives
- Draft, develop, and revise copy for diverse outputs, including news releases, PSAs, newsletters, web content, key messages, and speaking notes
- Coordinate and facilitate timely, accurate internal/external messaging, including managing media inquiries and providing on-scene support
- Develop, write, and execute content for social media posts, digital platforms, and coordinate web content and approvals
- Shoot and edit video content to support communication and marketing efforts
- Coordinate the entire production process for materials, liaising with designers, clients, and senior staff to ensure timely, on-budget completion
- Provide necessary research, liaison, and background support for both marketing/communications and event planning
- Act as a key point of contact, liaising with internal/external suppliers, stakeholders, and various client areas
- Coordinate the fact-checking, information collection, revisions, and approval processes for all copy and messaging materials
- Graduation from a 2-year college, accredited post-secondary institute, or technical institute program with coursework related to marketing, journalism, communications, or public relations
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a public relations, public affairs, or public information position

Assets:
- Experience working in the public sector or a large complex organization
- Membership in IABC, CPRS or other related professional association
- Experience shooting and editing video
Skills required for success:
- A proven ability to deliver quality marketing communication products and advice on time
- Experience in delivering marketing communications materials
- Working knowledge of communications, marketing, advertising, media, social media, design coordination, event planning, and print production
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with staff at all levels and external client groups
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and competing deadlines
- Ability to gather technical information from clients to translate into marketing communications products

Conditions of Employment:
- Candidates are required to hold a valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent) or higher. Candidates will be required to arrange their own transportation and, where appropriate, will be reimbursed in accordance with City of Edmonton policy. This may require the candidate to obtain business-use auto insurance

Work Environment:
- Note: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52.
- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement, and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
- Availability to work evening and weekend to attend events is occasionally required.

Salary Range:
- 33.75 hours per week: $38.232 - $48.065 (Hourly); $67,355.23 - $84,678.51(Annually)
- 40 hours per week: $36.128 - $45.418(Hourly); $75,435.26 - $94,832.78 (Annually)
