Description

Are you a tech-savvy administrative professional with a knack for keeping people connected? The City of Edmonton's Community Services department is looking for a proactive and organized Department Telephony Coordinator to join the Deputy City Manager's Office. In this vital role, you will be the go-to expert for all things telecom, ensuring our front-line and field staff have the tools they need to serve our community safely and effectively. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment where your problem-solving skills make a tangible impact every day, we want to hear from you!

As the Department Telephony Coordinator, you will manage the end-to-end administration of telephony services for over 120 facility locations and 2,400 mobile devices. Your work involves everything from coordinating hardware requests for landlines and smartphones to managing complex billing and vendor relationships. You will also serve as a key Tenant Representative for the Edmonton Tower, coordinating space planning and office moves for multiple floors. This role requires a high degree of independence, as you will prioritize urgent requests from safety-sensitive areas—like Peace Officers and river valley park staff—without needing constant supervision. Ultimately, you are the bridge between technical vendors, internal IT teams, and our diverse departmental staff.

What will you do?

  • Administer the approval, procurement and refreshes of telephony hardware and services, including landlines, cell phones and data devices
  • Coordinate wireless and landline services for approximately 1,500 staff members and several community partners
  • Administer and regularly update data records for department telephony assets
  • Act as the primary Tenant Representative for the Edmonton Tower, managing maintenance requests, furniture orders, and space allocation for the 17th, 18th, and 19th floors
  • Troubleshoot telecom issues and manage the intake of repair requests for various devices and systems
  • Monitor monthly billing usage, investigate discrepancies, and process vendor invoices using SAP Ariba
  • Develop and deliver training to staff on the use of telecom products and adherence to City policies
  • Represent the department on Corporate Telecom committees and maintain strong relationships with internal collaborators and external vendors
  • Other duties as assigned
