Parks and Roads Services is responsible for services and assets that support mobility and activity in our city. The branch ensures that roads and the infrastructure assets, parks, trees and boulevards remain accessible, attractive and safe. The work across the branch includes repairs and maintenance, seasonal clean ups, signals and street lights, parking services and traffic safety, just to name a few.

Reporting to the Branch Manager of Parks and Roads Services and working in an integrated business model, the Director, Infrastructure Maintenance leads a multi-disciplinary team of over 900 staff that are accountable for ensuring inspecting and maintaining public infrastructure to facilitate movement and universal accessibility. In addition to operating and maintaining roadways, sidewalks, and active pathways, the infrastructure maintenance team also monitors and maintains vehicle and pedestrian bridges, and auxiliary structures. The section also offers technical and engineering service. Infrastructure Maintenance supports delivery of services that ensure safe mobility on roadways and active transportation assets

What will you do?

  • Lead program development and delivery for the maintenance and operations of the Roadway and Active Transportation Assets
  • Proactively monitor performance and financial reporting, addressing any identified issues with appropriate adjustments
  • Define and communicate a compelling vision, strategic objectives, and core operating principles to shape a positive and productive work culture within the section
  • Empower supervisors to proactively develop and implement action plans aimed at improving communication, fostering creative problem-solving, promoting seamless integration and collaboration across teams, and consistently supporting a culture of excellence through human centric leadership
  • Provide strong leadership and clear guidance to both internal and external teams and working groups, ensuring the optimal utilization of resources, adherence to established processes and policies, and the effective resolution of issues
  • Review the service levels and resource allocation in order to achieve service expectations
  • Anticipate business opportunities, influence policy, planning and initiatives, and foster a culture of accountability through performance measurement 
  • Integrate multi-disciplinary teams to work collaboratively with stakeholders supporting corporate priorities 
  • Build new and innovative collaborative partnerships with external agencies, orders of government, community organizations, and internal departments and branches
  • Ensure departmental alignment across the organization including active partnerships with planning and development teams and the Integrated Infrastructure Department
