Come and be a part of the City of Edmonton's Employee Service Centre's (ESC) dynamic team! As a Payroll Representative, you'll be responsible for efficient payroll functions that support over 14,000 City employees throughout 8 different departments.
Working with a team of professionals, you will provide efficient solutions and services to the entire organization in a manner that focuses on accuracy, timeliness and exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment.
What will you do?
- Process bi-weekly payroll and audit end-to-end payroll for union and non-union employees
- Provide interpretation regarding collective agreements, administrative policies and legislative changes
- Provide information and payments in accordance with collective agreements, third party processes and applicable legislation as they relate to time-entry, allowance and premiums, WCB and ROE processing, leave plans and benefit entitlements
- Research, problem solve and respond to individual employee pay and benefit enquiries received in a continuous phone queue system, email or chat
- Human Resources Information System (HRIS) projects and testing, as required
- Completion of Grade 12
- Minimum 3 years related progressively responsible experience in end-to-end union payroll administration in a large corporate environment
- Completion of Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certificate (PCP) from the National Payroll Institute. (Applicants working towards this certificate may be considered)
Assets:
- Completion of a Benefits or Pension Administration Certificate (CEBS/PPAC) or Human Resources Administration Certificate
- Relevant experience using PeopleSoft and SAP SuccessFactors (or similar HRIS software)
- Experience interpreting and applying Collective Agreements for payroll purposes
- Experience reconciling data in a unionized environment
- Experience with payroll system upgrades

- Ability to interpret information, determine alternatives, and implement solutions
- Ability to make decisions within established policies and procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, & Excel and Google: Docs, Sheets & Gmail

Conditions of Employment:
- Hire is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (CRC) security clearance that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton and is a requirement of this position. There may be a cost associated with this requirement

Work Environment:
- Note: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite
- This position is eligible for the EDO program (Earned Day Off)
- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance
