As a member of the Yellowhead Trail Portfolio Delivery team in the Infrastructure Delivery Branch, you will have a key role in managing transportation projects as they advance through detailed design and construction phases. Responsibility will also extend to providing support during the early stages of project development through the preliminary design phase.
The Engineering Program Manager is a key member of the section leadership team and plays a significant role in guiding the Branch toward successfully fulfilling their mandate within the Integrated Infrastructure Services Department.

What will you do?
Program Management:
- Adhere to the Project Management methodology, policies, processes and core requirements, guiding the expectations for Project Manager knowledge excellence
- Management of complex projects through design and construction with an emphasis on budget, schedule, scope, and quality
- Create, leverage and maintain strategic relationships necessary to advance the goals and objectives of projects within the IIS Department and with citizens, Council, business and industry partners
- Monitor and manage risk associated with the projects
- Coordinate business partner, stakeholder and project team requirements for successful project delivery
- Coordination with Corporate Procurement and Supply Services for the procurement of engineering consultants and contractors
- Develop and implement unit processes and track performance measures to ensure successful delivery of projects
Engineering:
- Provide engineering leadership to guide project and program success
- Integrally involved in applying systems engineering approaches to ensure integration between multiple specialist disciplines on complex infrastructure projects
- Review as required, the design and delivery of work performed by engineering consultants
- Ensure appropriate specifications and standards are developed and/or used based on expert technical knowledge and through the management of engineering specialists
- Integrally involved in applying technical expertise to anticipate, identify and resolve issues that may impact the project
- Using expert knowledge, oversee or perform in-field design and/or re-design to address unforeseen issues
Leadership:
- Oversee, lead, establish and exemplify the desired culture that supports the IIS Vision and Mission as well as the Corporate Leadership Principles
- Establish, demonstrate and hold others accountable to the values of the Department, Branch, Section and Unit
- Foster a culture of collaboration and networking amongst project teams, across the corporation and beyond
- Act as an agent of change and foster an open environment of continuous input and feedback
- Mentor and coach staff in a manner that fosters a culture of growth, development and continuous improvement, including EITs working towards a Professional Engineering designation and project managers working to develop their technical expertise
- Lead multi-disciplinary teams consisting of consultants, contractors, business partners and stakeholders
Safety Management:
- Ensure the project abides by any applicable City of Edmonton Occupational Health and Safety Standards and Guidelines
- Ensure the program and project level safety plan is developed, implemented and enforced for each project
