Working in a dynamic environment, with experienced labour relations practitioners, the Labour Relations Assistant (LRA) will provide technical and administrative support to a team of Labour Relations Consultants. The Labour Relations Section values open communication, collaboration, teamwork and service excellence. Your success will be measured by your ability to achieve results in a respectful, inclusive and service-minded way.

What will you do?

  • Receive, review, organize, catalog, refer and track all grievances, Alberta Labour Relations Board and disciplinary correspondence
  • Receive, review, organize, research, refer and track incoming inquiries and requests to completion, including FOIP requests, investigations, requests for information, briefings and other general inquiries to Labour Relations
  • Utilize and manage investigation tracking tools (i.e. harassment and discrimination, Hotline)
  • Provide clerical support to the Director of Disputes and Advisory Services and team
  • Set up meetings, which may include contacting Union representatives and City employees for scheduling, arrange for location and materials (i.e. flipcharts, coffee, etc.), and send out notification to individuals
  • Attend a variety of meetings to record notes, track and ensure resolution of sensitive labour relations action items
  • Support the onboarding process for new hires to Labour Relations, by tracking and monitoring to ensure orientation processes are completed and that new employees have access to the tools required to complete their work
  • Provide any other administrative support functions as required
