The City of Edmonton is looking for dedicated individuals to join our Infrastructure Maintenance team as a Labourer II - Playspaces and Site Furnishings. In this role, you will be at the forefront of maintaining the equipment and features that make our city's parks and playgrounds special. Reporting to a Licensed Crew Lead, you will champion our playspaces to the highest safety standards, specifically the Canadian Standards Association Z614 specifications. Your work is essential to the year-round maintenance and operational success of our parks, involving everything from detailed playground inspections to the repair of site furniture.. You will operate a wide range of tools and motor vehicles to perform semi-skilled manual labour and asset rehabilitation. This role requires a proactive approach to safety, ensuring a secure environment for yourself, your colleagues, and the public. By maintaining these assets, you directly impact the safety and satisfaction of everyone who uses our park systems. Ultimately, you will serve as an ambassador for our cultural commitments of being safe, helpful, accountable, integrated, and excellent. 

What will you do?

  • Perform inspections and repairs of playground equipment and features to ensure safety tolerances are met
  • Maintain and rehabilitate various playground surfaces and park assets, such as benches and other site furniture
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools, shop tools, and equipment, including skid steers, tractors, chainsaws, and snow blowers
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform minor maintenance to ensure tools are functioning properly
  • Participate in safety talks and complete essential documentation, such as inspection reports, accident reports, and inventories
  • Identify required minor repairs after inspections and recommend necessary replacement parts
