The City of Edmonton's Parks and Roads Services is looking for a dedicated Maintenance Repair Person 1 to join our team in Branch Integrated Support Services. This position is integral to the long-term success of serving our community by maintaining essential facilities. You will be responsible for yard and building maintenance, performing routine repairs, and ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently. A key component of this role involves operating a truck to transport equipment and materials to job sites, basic maintenance of small equipment, and managing store stock. You will apply your organization and prioritization skills to address constantly changing priorities and work orders. You will also play a role in mentoring less experienced labourers and providing excellent service to colleagues and community partners.

What will you do?

  • Respond to yard and building maintenance requests, completing the necessary work and repairs

  • Perform general maintenance, including cleaning, painting, and rough carpentry work on buildings, doors, tables, benches, desks, and signage

  • Maintain and service various types of fire extinguishers

  • Perform routine tasks such as replacing filters and repairing faucets or dishwashers

  • Operate a truck to transport equipment and materials to and from job sites

  • Prepare and organize all required supplies, materials, equipment, and safety gear to complete assignments

  • Receive, pick up, deliver, and issue store stock and other materials

  • Assist with snow removal and spread sand/ice melt around yards during winter months

  • Advise the Yard Leader of major problems or delays that could affect productivity goals

  • Adhere to standard operating procedures and participate in safety and environmental programs, including performing hazard assessments

  • Other duties as required
