This position exists to ensure the City effectively harnesses its spatial information assets—encompassing operational data maintenance, sophisticated analytics, and external data partnerships—for informed decision-making and efficient service delivery across diverse departments.

This role is accountable for the integrity, accessibility, and strategic use of the City's geospatial data. It drives the development and implementation of data standards, fosters key relationships, and oversees the creation of insightful geospatial intelligence. This ensures the City's spatial data initiatives directly support critical municipal operations, compliance mandates (like NG9-1-1), and broader innovation goals.

What will you do?

  • Provide strategic leadership to the Geospatial Standards and Partnerships team in developing, communicating, and advocating for enterprise-wide geospatial data standards, policies, and best practices
  • Guide teams in developing and delivering impactful geospatial reports, dashboards, and analytical products that translate complex spatial data into actionable intelligence for decision-makers
  • Develop and implement strategic plans and annual work programs for the Enterprise Geospatial Data and Analytics portfolio, ensuring alignment with departmental and broader City-wide objectives
  • Lead the identification and assessment of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in geospatial data management and advanced analytics, recommending strategic adoptions to enhance City capabilities
  • Determine key priorities and effectively allocate resources across the data coordination, standards, and analytics teams to maximize impact and achieve defined outcomes
  • Draft and recommend high-level policies, procedures, and service delivery models related to geospatial data, analytics, and governance, ensuring they support corporate needs and values
  • Monitor compliance with external regulations (for example, Next Generation 9-1-1 requirements) and internal policies related to geospatial data, ensuring the City's data meets all necessary standards
  • Develop and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with managers and leaders across various City departments to understand their geospatial data and analytical needs and ensure service alignment
