Join a team in support of the City of Edmonton's Urban Planning and Economy Department! In this role, you will be a trusted advisor to the Branch Manager, Development Services and work collaboratively with the Branch Leadership Team to support the city's growth and development. You will represent the Branch and coordinate the delivery of corporate initiatives and projects including strategic/business planning, support a variety of complex branch-wide programs, and manage issues.
As a key member of the Branch Manager's Office, this role is responsible for coordinating the activities of the branch such as council reports, project management and strategic planning. This is a role that requires influence and will be providing leadership, research, analysis, monitoring and recommendations on a wide variety of issues primarily at the Branch level.
What will you do?
- Organize and facilitate branch initiatives, and participate in the development of branch vision, mission, values strategies, long term planning, goals and action plans
- Provide leadership and direction on branch operational processes and strategic planning processes, including business plans, briefings, and presentations
- Represent the branch on departmental, corporate committees and branch teams
- Collaborate across the branch and department to implement the vision and strategy of the branch
- Provide leadership, research, analysis, monitoring and recommendations on a wide variety of issues primarily at branch and department levels
- Review and edit Council and Committee reports for content and completeness, provide direction to staff in their preparation based on motions and inquiries from City Council
- Provide information, expert advice and recommendations on behalf of the Branch Manager to support branch operations
- Conceptualize and lead a wide variety of assigned projects which are complex, confidential and/or politically sensitive
- Respond to ad-hoc requests for information, confidential advice and prepare ad hoc reports or briefings
- Oversee processes related to branch personnel management and budget-related expenses branch-wide personal changes, training activities, and approvals
- Foster and maintain collaborative working relationships with clients, colleagues, staff and community
