Job Description

The position provides organizational leadership and facilitates all aspects of internal (academic) and external (public) usage of the Performing Arts Center at the College of Southern Nevada - Nicholas J. Horn Theatre and Backstage Theatre. The position reporting directly to the Dean of Arts & Letters, directs the day-to-day operations of the Performing Arts Center, including communications with all users/renters regarding facilitating equipment and personnel needs, developing, in consultation with the Dean, appropriate policies and SOPs as well as ensuring that these policies and procedures are followed. This position requires a high level of responsibility. The individual in this position has considerable latitude for independent action and is responsible for developing and implementing contracts and agreements with all facility users. This may include, but is not limited to, overseeing all productions within the Performing Arts Center.

The ideal candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Performing Arts Center operations. (Events coordination/arts administration)

  • Principles and practices of contract negotiation

  • Fiscal and fiduciary management to allocate resources, prepare budgets, analyze financial data, and project revenues/expenses

  • Staff supervision, training, and evaluation

  • Event/production scheduling

  • Theatrical equipment, systems, tools, and appropriate maintenance schedules

  • Facility systems and pertinent laws; Codes and regulations, including OSHA, ESTA. ANSI, ADA, and fire code. Public relations, marketing, and graphic arts

  • Theatrical production procedures

  • Applicable computer programs and equipment

  • Training techniques

  • Operate various computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, MS Teams, Adobe CS, computerized ticketing systems, Workday

  • Operation of lighting consoles, sound equipment, counterweight rigging systems

  • To operate general office equipment such as scanners, printers, and copiers

  • Develop and implement goals, objectives, and strategic plans

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures

  • Develop, contracts, agreements, and riders

  • Prepare and administer complex budgets

  • Create, negotiate, and sign client contracts and agreements (user/renters)

  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with renters/ users/ PAC staff and CSN employees

  • Research, analyze and implement policies regarding new laws and regulations

  • Supervise, direct, and coordinate the work staff

  • Prepare administrative and financial reports

  • Read, evaluate, and negotiate contracts and technical riders

  • Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, and resolve issues

  • Work with culturally diverse employees, students, and clients

  • Research, analyze, evaluate, recommend, and implement new technology, equipment, and upgrades for the PAC systems

  • Research, analyze, evaluate, and improve service methods and techniques

  • Read and decipher technical drawings, plots, and plans

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Theatre/Events/Facilities Management from an accredited college/ university; OR equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 4 years related professional experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Theatre/Events/Facilities Management from an accredited college or university; OR equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 5 years related supervisory/ manager experience
