Position Summary
This position coordinates the online academic curriculum for the Law Enforcement Training Academy (LETA) Program. Responsibilities include the creation of online course offerings and course resources, assessment of individual courses and the LETA program, and maintenance of an academy course calendar and schedule. This position serves as an academic liaison between the LETA Program and the CSN CRJ Program.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in criminal justice or related degree
Minimum 5 years law enforcement experience
Previous Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement teaching at the collegiate or police academy level
Employment is contingent upon a successful criminal background check.
Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).]
Preferred Qualifications
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to teach multiple Criminal Justice or law enforcement topics
Grant writing experience
Proficiency in use of Microsoft computer software applications and TaskStream
Experience in online education using Canvas learning platform
Working knowledge of CSN Criminal Justice and LETA Programs; specific curriculum and learning outcomes
Working knowledge of CSN accreditation and assessment standards and processes
Experience in creating assessment tools and data collection
Working knowledge of Nevada Peace Officer Standards and Training regulations and Category I and Category III curriculum and learning outcomes
Ability to work with and teach diverse populations
Ability to prioritize projects and establish timelines
Ability to make decisions and take actions independently
Strong communication and relationship building skills
Takes initiative, asks questions, is accountable
