Colorado Permanente Medical group is seeking a full-time board certified or board eligible Obgyn Physician for a hospitalist role participating in primarily inpatient care of obstetric and gynecologic patients at any of our affiliated hospitals in the North, Central and Denver Metro regions with the north Denver region having the most need.   

This position includes inpatient L & D and Gyn call with a post call day off.  Additional responsibilities include support of outpatient consultations and virtual nursing, and selected outpatient and inpatient gynecologic surgeries. Surgeries are performed at the hospital and at the Kaiser Ambulatory surgery centers or minor procedure rooms. The Obgyn department is comprised of a great team of 50 plus generalists, MFM, UroGyn and Gyn Onc physicians.

The physician manages the full scope of obstetrical and gynecologic patients primarily in the hospital setting. Approximately 60% of the hospital responsibility will be as the primary obstetric care provider, and the remaining as the gynecologic care provider. The physician must maintain a level of knowledge and perform the essential diagnostic procedures that allow him/her to serve as a consultant to physicians who are non-obstetrician-gynecologists in the Colorado Permanente Medical Group (CPMG) and in the hospital setting.  They must also be comfortable with seeing patients in the clinic when needed.

Essential Functions

The physician cares for obstetric patients in the antepartum, intrapartum, and immediate postpartum periods.  They must also be comfortable with outpatient care of OB patients as needed on an ad hoc basis.

  • The physician will perform obstetric procedures such as cesarean section, operative vaginal delivery, tubal ligation, dilation and curettage, repair of episiotomy, external cephalic version, etc as necessary.
  • The physician cares for gynecologic patients who require emergency care or inpatient hospitalization, and occasionally clinic evaluation when staffing or circumstances warrant.
  • The physician will be required to perform urgent or emergent gynecologic surgeries such as laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, vulvar and vaginal surgery, dilation and curettage, hysterectomy, etc as necessary.
  • The physician will perform the following inpatient/outpatient duties as necessary: admissions, rounding, consultations, obstetric deliveries, triage of obstetric patients and discharges. The physician may be needed to support outpatient clinical work, if needed for sick outages or patient access.
  • In house hospital call coverage is required, which includes days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Call coverage may occur at any of our contracted facilities in the North, Central and Metro regions depending on the need of the organization. Some call may be home call if delivery volumes warrant at various locations.
  • The physician serves as a consultant to CPMG primary care or other specialty physicians, as well as advanced practice nurse providers. The physician will also support virtual nursing questions.  
  • The physician assesses and refers appropriately those problems outside his/her scope of practice.
  • The physician completes entries into the medical record in a timely manner, as per CPMG policy
  • The physician demonstrates excellent clinical and surgical skills, incorporating acceptable practice standards while maintaining a commitment to lifelong learning.
  • The physician appropriately manages transitions of care.
  • They physician maintains a professional and collegial work environment as outlined in the CPMG staff manual.

Job Requirements

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO)

Completion of an accredited Obstetrics and Gynecology residency

Board Certification or Board Eligible by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology

Maintenance of hospital privileges at contract facilities

  • Pay range: minimum $327,112.00 and maximum $384,838.00.  *Salary will be based on years of experience.
