ResponsibilitiesMAJOR DUTIES
Responsible for the examination, diagnosis and treatment of the full range of patients seen in the clinic.
1. Serves as a Neurosurgeon providing routine, non-routine and emergency inpatient and outpatient care at Madigan Army Medical Center. Provides examination, diagnosis, and treatment by surgical and nonsurgical means for diseases and injuries. Responsible for clinic, operative and inpatient care of patients. Performs clinical rounds as dictated by standards of sound patient care. Responsible for the evaluation, work-up and preparation of Neurosurgery patients for Surgery. Responsible for telephone consultations with patients, surgeons and other physicians with urgent concerns. Prepares and maintains outpatient, inpatient and operative reports in accordance with service and hospital SOPs. Documents in both paper and Electronic Medical Records, meeting timeline standards. Participates in, fully supports, and assumes responsibility for specified assignments in Quality Improvement activities in the Neurosurgery Service.
2. Teaches Surgical Residents, performs lectures, conducts research and publishes scholarly works in support of the GME program. Serves as preceptor, as required, for assigned residents and students. Evaluates residents and participates in academic forums expressly designed for the formal evaluation and training of residents. Serves as a member of Departmental and Institutional Committees as required.

Board Certified/Eligible
Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicants graduation. [A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States may be demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country).
Candidates must have a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
