Your Specific Responsibilities:
This position identifies at-risk populations in Marion County and coordinates targeted programs to address issues such as
linkage to care, healthy behaviors, support systems and community resources focusing on sexual health and HIV prevention
education.
The goal is to identify at-risk groups for targeted testing providing counseling on HIV prevention and linkage to care.
This position actively initiates activities to detect, control and prevent the spread of HIV and STD through individual and group
education.
This position provides confidential and anonymous HIV counseling and testing, utilizing appropriate testing methods
(i. e., rapid, oral or venipuncture) for the circumstance. Provides education on HIV prevention including condom instruction and
distribution, PrEP and nPEP information and referrals. Documents all client services appropriately.
Maintaining positive, strong, stigma free community relationships is of utmost importance.
The incumbent will create and maintain MOAs with community partners as a resource to educate, promote and provide HIV
screenings, prevention strategies and referrals to at risk community members through outreach activities and event.
Develops community liaisons to emphasize local support of National HIV prevention campaigns. Conducts special events,
which promote community HIV/STD awareness (i. e., Health Fairs, World AIDS Day, and Business Responds to AIDS).
Prepares quarterly Prevention & Training Consultant (PTC) report, including business and faith-based condom distribution.
Provides phlebotomy assistance for laboratory coverage.
Interviews those infected with HIV for sexual and needle sharing partners. Refers contacts to DIS worker for follow-up. Builds a
relationship with juveniles and those incarcerated who are HIV positive and prepares to link them to HIV care upon
release. Refers clients to medical and community resources and provides handout materials with written resources as needed.
Maintains appropriate logs, records and documents directed by security policy and to prepare timely reports required by
program components.
Performs other related duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Skilled in phlebotomy
Ability to communicate effective in English, written and verbal.
Knowledge of methods of compiling, organizing and analyzing data.
Ability to conduct fact-finding interviews.
Ability to conduct health investigations.
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities.
Ability to prepare records and reports.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Ability to identify community resources.
Ability to prepare and conduct training programs.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Must successfully complete 500/501 HIV Testing & Counseling Class
Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs., push, pull, drive and perform demonstrations as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum -
2 years experience working as a certified phlebotomist
comfortable discussing sexual practices and preference s
Willingness to assist clients with HIV prevention and infectious disease
Valid Driver license
Preferred -
Experience working with community partners.
