Description

We are seeking a bilingual **-Health Educator-** who will be responsible for writing and developing curriculum and materials and will take the lead in crafting lectures, flyers, videos and other curriculum content for an asthma intervention research program. The -Health Educator- will coordinate protocol implementation, deliver community education, and organize engagement activities for multiple research projects within the Behavioral and Implementation Research Center on Health (formerly Adherence Research Center). BIRCH is a leader in the design of innovative interventions supporting behavior change to improve health and healthcare delivery within the community and other stakeholder settings. The position will work directly under the supervision of the Sr. Research Program Coordinator and Principal Investigator.

The Health Educator will coordinate community engagement efforts and education with public schools and Head Start programs. Will assist with the development of education materials. The Health Educator will also support research activities including screening and recruiting eligible participants for study participation, developing research instruments and forms in collaboration with the research team, and collecting research data and managing study databases.

**Specific Duties & Responsibilities**

-Community Engagement and Health Education-

Write and edit education procedures, education manuals, and curricula.

Collaborate with study investigators, external agencies, community partners, and other partners on development of education materials.

Deliver education via in person or remote training and workshops to sites (staff, caregivers, and children).

Attend and provide support during community engagement events including, but not limited to, caregiver workshops, health fairs, and staff education.

Obtain high level of knowledge of health topics associated with the seminars to be able to address community concerns and questions on these topics.

-Research Activities-

Develop and implement manual of procedures.

Ensure proper written informed consent from each study participant is obtained prior to entering study; ensure that the original signed and dated consent from for each study participant is filed in participants' research record.

Track survey completion and payments.

Manage study procedures concerns and/or issue that arise during assessments.

Recruit and screen potential study participants according to protocol's inclusion and exclusion criteria; be knowledgeable of the protocol so that study activities are completed

Conduct study visits over the phone, video call, home visits, or in person.

Conduct and track follow-up assessments in a timely fashion.

Troubleshoot participant difficulties with assessment completion correctly and completely.

Perform data management include inputting, organizing, editing, and verifying accuracy of data in databases.

Participate in weekly staff meetings to report on screening, recruitment, and data collection progress and resolve problems.

-Data Management-

Understand the importance/impact of data integrity regarding honest reporting of sensitive and confidential patient information.

Adhere to guidelines regarding the sensitivity and confidential nature of patient information and data quality guidelines.

Track, input, organize, edit, and verify the accuracy of data in databases.

Conduct study qualitative interviews over the phone or zoom utilizing rapid qualitative methods of data collection.

Responsible for tracking, shipping, quality control, and cleaning of workshop materials.

-Administrative & Other-

Serve as liaison between multiple collaborators and disciplines, including physicians, clinic administrative staff, Head Start programs, and schools.

Coordinate services and the communication of pertinent information to all study participants.

Assist in the preparation of submissions to the IRB and DSMB, and sponsor reports.

Schedule investigator meetings, data management meetings, or any study-specific meetings.

Participate in weekly staff meetings to report on recruitment progress. May make recommendations for resolutions to new/outstanding operational issues. May assist in coordinating study(s) meetings, including developing an agenda and reports. May assist in completing meeting minutes.

Process participant payments and maintain accurate financial records.

Perform other study-related or administrative duties as assigned or requested.

Work independently and under the direction of the Research Program Supervisor and PI to ensure the successful completion of the clinical research study.

**Minimum Qualifications**

Bachelor's Degree in health science or related discipline.

Bilingual English/Spanish speaker.

Some related experience required.

Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Starting Salary Range: $17.00 - $30.00 HRLY ($23.50 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
