Responsibilities
The Nursing Assistant OR assists anesthesia with ordering supplies and stocking and outdating anesthesia carts and anesthesia supply room. The Nursing Assistant OR will function within the Center's policies and procedures and support SCA Health values, vision and mission.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities
Stocks and outdates anesthesia carts and anesthesia supply room
Orders anesthesia supplies
Assists with OR room turnover
Retrieves supplies at request of anesthesia personnel
Cleans and maintains specific equipment
Maintains dress and appearance according to policy standards
Participates in performance appraisal process
Maintains privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information
Considers age specific needs in communication
Identifies potentially unsafe situations and notifies supervisor
Demonstrates fiscal responsibility
Actively participates in staff meetings (review minutes), team meetings, training and daily safety huddle communication
Maintains compliance with fire, emergency, blood-borne pathogens, exposure to chemicals, SDS sheets, MERTKA, spill kits, AWAIR program and other emergency and safety precautions as required by center
Complies with all SCA and facility policies and procedures
Performs all other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent
One to three years of experience preferred
Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 6 months of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS certification
Environmental Conditions/Physical Requirements
Work is indoors in climate-controlled (with occasional exposure to outdoor climate) patient care environment with potential exposure to unpleasant odors, blood and body fluids that may carry infection, communicable disease, chemicals, repetitive motion and electrical hazards
Good visual acuity with accurate color vision
Hand eye coordination
Ability to lift/transfer items in excess of 35 pounds which may require pushing, pulling and essentially utilizing full range of body movement using proper body mechanics
Standing and walking for extensive periods of time
Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching
Manual and finger dexterity
Ability to speak and hear
