**Job Title:** Activities Assistant

**Job Overview:**
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Activities Assistant to join our team! The Activities Assistant will play a vital role in supporting and facilitating engaging recreational and social activities for our residents/clients/participants. You will work closely with the Activities Coordinator to ensure a diverse range of programs that promote physical, mental, and social well-being. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a passion for working with individuals, and a positive attitude.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Assist in the planning, implementation, and facilitation of various activities and programs for residents/clients, including arts and crafts, exercise classes, games, and social events.
- Set up and take down activity spaces, ensuring all materials and supplies are ready for use.
- Provide support and encouragement to participants, fostering a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
- Monitor participants during activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Assist in the preparation of promotional materials to advertise upcoming activities and events.
- Collaborate with team members to evaluate the effectiveness of programs and suggest improvements based on participant feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance and participation in activities, reporting any concerns to the Activities Coordinator.
- Participate in team meetings and professional development activities as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
**Qualifications:**
- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in recreation, therapeutic recreation, gerontology, or a related field is a plus.
- Previous experience in an activity or recreational role, preferably in a healthcare, educational, or community setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage participants at varying levels of ability.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and communication purposes.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
**Physical Requirements:**
- Ability to lift and carry moderate weights (up to 25 lbs) as needed for activities and equipment.
- Ability to stand, walk, and engage in physical activities for extended periods.
