As a Busser/Food Runner, you'll play an important role in creating a warm, welcoming dining experience for our residents and guests. Your attention to service, hospitality, and care helps ensure mealtimes are enjoyable, engaging, and reflective of the high standards of our community.

Your Role:

As a Busser/Food Runner, you are responsible for supporting daily dining operations by providing friendly, timely, and attentive meal service while maintaining a clean, organized, and inviting dining environment.

Position Highlights:

  • Status: PART TIME
  • Schedule: Needed for dinner shift only 3p-7p - INCLUDING WEEKENDS IF APPLICABLE
  • Location: 1000 Aston Gardens at Pelican Pointe
  • Rate of Pay: 15.00

Position Summary

The Busser/Food Runner plays an important role in providing an exceptional dining experience for our residents by supporting the Dining Services team during meal service. This position is responsible for delivering meals promptly and accurately, maintaining a clean and organized dining room, assisting servers and culinary staff, and ensuring residents receive friendly, courteous service in a welcoming environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Deliver meals from the kitchen to the dining room promptly and accurately.
  • Assist servers by delivering beverages, soups, salads, desserts, and additional meal items.
  • Ensure meals are served at the proper temperature and according to resident requests.
  • Communicate special requests or concerns to servers and the culinary team.

Dining Room Support

  • Set and reset dining room tables before, during, and after meal service.
  • Clear tables promptly after residents have finished dining.
  • Refill beverages, condiments, bread, and other dining necessities as directed.
  • Assist in maintaining an attractive and welcoming dining room appearance.

Cleaning & Sanitation

  • Clean and sanitize tables, chairs, service stations, and dining areas in accordance with food safety standards.
  • Sweep, mop, and maintain cleanliness of assigned work areas.
  • Assist with polishing silverware, rolling utensils, and stocking service stations.
  • Follow all sanitation, infection control, and safety procedures.

Teamwork

  • Assist servers, hosts, and culinary staff as needed to ensure efficient meal service.
  • Communicate effectively with team members regarding resident needs and dining room operations.
  • Participate in pre-shift meetings and training sessions.
  • Promote a positive, resident-focused dining experience.

Resident Service

  • Greet residents warmly and courteously.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to resident requests.
  • Demonstrate patience, compassion, and respect when interacting with residents, families, and guests.
  • Help create a pleasant dining atmosphere through exceptional customer service.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous restaurant, hospitality, customer service, or food service experience preferred, but not required.
  • Senior living or healthcare dining experience is a plus.
  • Food Handler Certification preferred or ability to obtain after hire.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Positive attitude and willingness to assist wherever needed.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to frequently bend, reach, stoop, and lift.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to push and pull carts containing dishes, food, or supplies.
  • Ability to work in a kitchen and dining room environment with exposure to heat, cold, and cleaning chemicals.

Schedule Requirements

  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs.
  • Attendance and punctuality are essential to the success of the Dining Services team.
