Memory Care Director – Heartis Village of Peoria
Location: Peoria, IL
Compensation: $85k+10% bonus

Special Year-One Bonus: $5K after 6 months + $10K after 12 months (in lieu of first-year leadership bonus). Standard leadership bonus begins in year 2.

Travel: 10%–20%

Discovery Management Group is seeking a Memory Care Director to lead our dementia and memory care program at Heartis Village of Peoria. This role is responsible for program development, compliance, and team leadership to ensure residents receive compassionate, individualized care and engagement. The Memory Care Director partners with clinical, activities, dining, and family support teams to create a safe, supportive, and life-enriching environment.

We are looking for a dedicated, resident-centered leader who can:

  • Plan, organize, and direct all aspects of the Memory Care program.
  • Develop and implement dementia-specific programming, activities, and Life Skills.
  • Supervise and support care staff, ensuring compassionate and compliant service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with state, local, and federal dementia care regulations.
  • Partner with families through communication and support groups.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to ensure holistic resident care.

Your Role: Memory Care Director

As Memory Care Director, you'll oversee the daily operation of the memory care unit, supervise care managers/CNAs, and lead programming that engages residents meaningfully throughout the day. You will also serve as a family liaison, ensuring communication, support, and care plan compliance. Success in this role is measured by quality of care, resident/family satisfaction, compliance, and team performance.

Responsibilities

  • Design and facilitate memory care programming, incorporating Montessori, Person-Centered, or other dementia-specific approaches.
  • Partner with the Activities Director and Celebrations team to implement a full calendar of engagement opportunities.
  • Lead and coach care staff; supervise CNAs and ensure active resident engagement.
  • Plan and facilitate monthly family support groups.
  • Collaborate with Health & Wellness to align care plans with clinical needs.
  • Monitor compliance with all dementia-related regulations and prepare for audits/inspections.
  • Manage department budgets, staffing, and performance.
  • Serve as the community champion for dementia education and awareness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • At least 1 year of management experience in dementia/memory care.
  • Supervisory experience managing CNAs/care staff.
  • Knowledge of dementia-related regulations and compliance standards.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings or weekends.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with electronic care or scheduling systems preferred.
  • Compassionate approach with a passion for serving residents with dementia.
  • MOD/On-Call rotation may be required.
