Job Details:General Summary:
Dollar General is seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. This role will focus on the accurate management, tracking, and reporting of the company's fixed assets, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and take ownership of processes critical to the success of our financial operations.
Duties & Responsibilites:
- Maintain and update the fixed asset sub-ledger, including additions, disposals, transfers, and adjustments.
- Ensure proper classification, capitalization, and depreciation of fixed assets in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
- Review and track capital projects and construction in progress (CIP)
- Reconcile fixed asset accounts and analyze variances to ensure alignment with the general ledger.
- Run & maintain detail reports to assist with various requests from other departments within the company
- Assist with audits by providing documentation and supporting schedules related to fixed assets.
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close processes related to fixed assets.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- High-level of organization and ability to prioritize assignments. Strong understanding of GAAP.
- Ability to work independent and collaboratively as a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable working with Microsoft Access and Excel including: vlookups and pivot tables & proficiency in accounting software (experience with ERP systems such as Oracle is a plus).
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in handling financial information.
Work Experience &/or Education:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- 0-3 years of accounting experience, with a focus on fixed assets preferred.
