EECU is looking for a Business System Analyst (Lending/Finance) that will apply proven communication, analytical, development, and problem-solving skills to help maximize retail/call center business unit performance by improving processes and systems. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with end users to identify problems and design solutions, as well as applying hands-on development skills to create some solutions on their own.
The position will support EECU's Lending systems (would include Direct Lending, Indirect Lending, Accounting, and Business Services) by acting as the liaison to the IT department, providing support and expertise in solving IT-related problems for the business unit. The Business System Analyst will meet with decision makers, systems owners, and users to define business and operational requirements, design and develop solutions to solve process problems, and identify and resolve systems issues. This can include supporting and configuring line of business applications; reviewing, modeling, and analyzing business processes; creating and implementing new business processes; providing project management for department projects; creating systems proposals and business cases to help evaluate new solutions; and designing solutions and creating functional requirements documents or other artifacts for development projects.
In addition to the analyst functions above, the position may provide hands-on development for smaller projects scoped at under 8 hours of development time. This is ideal for existing developers wanting to work more closely with end users, or analysts wanting to utilize development skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with business leaders, system owners, and end users to gather and analyze business, financial, and operational requirements.
- Translate complex business needs into system proposals, business cases, and functional requirements.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses to support technology investment decisions.
- Analyze current processes and systems to identify automation opportunities and operational improvements.
- Develop process models, diagrams, and system documentation to support development and implementation.
- Serve as Scrum Master for the assigned IT Fusion Team.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog grooming, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Manage and prioritize the product backlog in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Track Agile metrics such as velocity and burndown to support continuous improvement.
- Support business operations through system configuration, reporting, user administration, and performance monitoring.
- Coordinate testing and implementation of new applications and system enhancements.
- Monitor system releases, upgrades, and defect resolution.
- Ensure compatibility between in-house and vendor solutions.
- Serve as platform owner for line-of-business systems, overseeing system performance and roadmap development.
- Evaluate software releases and new capabilities to improve operational efficiency.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and cost optimization.
- Create epics and user stories to support project work.
- Coordinate sprint tasks and collaborate with project teams to ensure successful delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- Three (3) to Five (5) years of professional experience in business systems analysis, information systems, or related technical roles.
- Experience gathering and documenting business, functional, and system requirements.
- Experience supporting software development, system implementations, or enterprise technology solutions.
- Experience working with project management or software development methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or Lean.
- Experience analyzing and improving business processes and system workflows.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Working knowledge of SQL queries and data analysis for reporting and decision support.
- Experience developing process diagrams, system documentation, and business cases.
- Knowledge of enterprise applications, system integrations, and data flows.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Agile or Scrum certification (e.g., Certified Scrum Master or similar). Master's degree and/or advanced data analytics certifications preferred.
- Experience working within a financial institution or credit union environment.
- Experience serving as a Scrum Master or Agile team facilitator.
- Experience supporting core banking or enterprise financial systems.
- Experience performing platform ownership or product management responsibilities.
