Description

 

The Senior Cost Coordinator is a fully independent cost control professional responsible for end-to-end cost management of major projects.  This position works under the direction of the department manager and provides functional and management support for cost control activities on capital growth, field engineering, and asset integrity projects. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides analytical insight and supports project leadership in decision-making.

  • Provide executive-level reporting and cost coordination on large capital program projects.

  • Function as a liaison for the project management team between departments such as Accounting, IT, Tax, Procurement & Contracts, Legal and external auditors, contractors and vendors.

  • Review project invoices and ensure proper coding to the planned budget expenditure types.

  • Analyze and update actual cost data in forecast report from Property Accounting for all assigned projects.
  • Review and initiate project cost transfers to correct project coding.
  • Provide project cash flow analysis for growth capital reporting.
  • Oversee invoice accrual process on capital and expense projects.
  • Leads monthly forecast review meetings with Project Managers.
  • Assist project managers and property accounting with project in-service process.
  • Ensure that Project Control deliverables are satisfied, and Project Control Systems are properly implemented in a timely and accurate manner.

 



Requirements

 

The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree is required. An Engineering, Construction Science, Accounting degree is preferred.

  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years' experience as a project cost engineer or cost controller is preferred.
  • Experience with control budgets, project code of accounts, actual cost tracking, cost forecasting, identification and estimation of cost trends, cost change management, account reconciliation, variance management, and cashflow analysis is required.
  • Large oil and gas industry projects (over $50 million) experience is preferred.
  • Experience and understanding of project related construction manpower forecasts, earned value reporting, and performance measurement reporting is preferred. 
  • Basic understanding of project planning, scheduling, and progress measurement is preferred.
  • A solid knowledge of Project Controls Systems and processes in engineering, procurement, and construction project environments preferred.
  • Ability to work and interface with numerous people from different departments simultaneously is required.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Excel, pivot tables, Microsoft Word, Power Point software, Data analytics, and reporting tools (Power BI a plus).
  • Primavera and Microsoft Project software experience is a plus.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to multi-task is required.
  • Excellent people skills are required.
