The Field Safety Manager ensures that programs and processes are in place for efficient and effective achievement of company objectives as related to occupational safety and process safety. The Field Safety Manager will also identify deficiencies in programs and practices and develop strategies to correct those deficiencies. Responsbilities includes, but is not limited to:
- Work as a member of the respective management in the ongoing improvement of safety throughout the assigned region.
- Selection, development, training and mentoring of direct reports.
- Development of processes and systems to improve occupational and process safety performance.
- Identifying deficiencies and opportunities for improvement in regional safety systems and developing strategies for resolution.
- Work closely with respective management leadership in achieving company safety objectives.
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory and industry regulations.
- Creating, developing, and improving working relationship between environmental, external agencies, and internal departments such as EHS&T, Operations, Engineering, Commercial, Legal and others.
- Setting and achieving departmental goals that support and meet the expectations of executive management.
- Developing, monitoring, and achieving departmental expense and capital budgets.
- Participation in industry associations as appropriate.
Requirements
The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in safety or another relevant technical field is required. Extensive experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
- 10 or more years of Safety related experience in the process industry or heavy industry is required.
- 5 or more years of leadership experience at the management level or above in the industry or heavy industry is strongly preferred.
- Proven leadership skills of safety professionals or related groups in the energy industry are required.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively and influence various individuals and groups across organizational lines is required.
- Proven organizational skills and abilities are required.
- Proven ability to evaluate issues, define requirements, and implement action plans to accomplish organizational goals is required.
- Working knowledge of midstream energy industry facilities such as pipelines (gas, liquids, natural gas liquids), pump and compressor stations, gas and liquid measurement facilities, above and below ground storage, liquid terminals, gas processing facilities, or natural gas liquids fractionation is preferred.
- Ability to walk long periods of time to access field assets and right-of-way's is required.
- Ability to travel domestically up to 50% of the time is required.
