Description

Performs accounting, budget analysis and reviews, and provides comprehensive financial knowledge, accounting/financial support, and technical assistance for the department.  Develops, prepares, revises, and/or maintains a variety of accounting, budget, profitability, and other financial reports, statements, transactions, and records in accordance with applicable laws, codes, statutes, rules, regulations and ordinances; and to perform related duties as assigned. Prepares spreadsheets, and maintains databases in the performance of accounting, budget, profitability and financial analysis work.  Analyzes, and evaluates the accuracy of general ledger, accounting details, revenues, expenditures, and accounting or budget/financial reports to ensure proper amounts and classification.

Essential Job Responsibilities

1. Participates in the annual budget process, including periodic forecasts.  Performs budget analysis and reviews, and provides comprehensive financial knowledge, accounting/financial support, and technical assistance for revenue lines of business and support areas. 

2. Develops, prepares, revises, and/or maintains a variety of accounting, budget, profitability, and financial reports, statements, transactions, and records in accordance with applicable laws, codes, statutes, rules, regulations and ordinances; and to perform related duties as assigned.

3. Prepares spreadsheets and presentations and maintains databases in the performance of accounting, budget, and financial analysis work related to corporate, regional/geographical, line of business, and specialized profitability reporting.

4. Analyzes, and evaluates the accuracy of general ledger, accounting details, revenues, expenditures, and accounting or budget or financial report to ensure proper amounts, receipt, and classification.

5. Monitors, analyzes, and/or reviews financial summaries and detailed reports, internal/external reports, budget programs, documents and records for accuracy, and compliance, implementing corrections.

6. Resolves discrepancies as necessary, and/or processing documents for input into automated systems.

7. Develops, prepares, reviews, and analyzes a wide variety of routine and specialized budgets, and/or other financial reports on a regular, monthly, interim, and/or annual basis.

8. Completes special projects and miscellaneous assignments.  Knowledge or experience in Corporate and State tax administration a plus.

9. Assists in compiling information for internal auditors, external auditors or examiners as requested

Bona Fide Occupational Qualifications

1. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred and a minimum of three (3) years of equivalent experience in accounting related positions required.

2. Experience with financial operations systems is preferred; specific experience with Axiom software a plus.


3.Proficiency in the following: typing, knowledge of Microsoft Office software, reading, writing and grammar skills, analytical or mathematical skills, and communications and interpersonal relations are required.

4. May be eligible for Telecommuting.
