Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add an Automation Engineer with Mechanical Design and Project Management skills located in Guadalajara North Campus.

Reporting to the Automation Manager, the Automation Engineer will be responsible for leading and supporting automation projects from concept through implementation, combining strong mechanical design capabilities, hands-on automation experience, and proven project management discipline.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Design, engineer, and modify automation equipment, tooling, fixtures, mechanical assemblies, and applications to automate manufacturing processes.

  • Develop mechanical concepts, 3D models, detailed drawings, BOMs, technical manuals, training documentation, preventive maintenance plans, and troubleshooting guides for automated equipment and automated processes.

  • Lead automation projects through key phases including scope definition, supplier engagement, design review, build, debug, FAT, installation, SAT, and production ramp-up.

  • Coordinate cross-functional activities with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are completed on time.

  • Apply automation knowledge including robotics, motion systems, pneumatics, sensors, machine vision, safety systems, controls integration, and industrial equipment commissioning.

  • Drive technical problem solving, risk mitigation, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement for automation equipment performance, uptime, safety, and quality.

The experience we're looking to add to our team:

  • Advanced English communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and stakeholders.

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, Industrial Engineering, Robotics, or related technical field.

  • Strong mechanical design skills, including 3D CAD modeling, detailed mechanical drawings, tolerance analysis, fixture/tooling design, equipment layout, and design for Automation.

  • Experience in automation equipment design, integration, debug, validation, and deployment within manufacturing environments.

  • Proven Project Management capabilities, including scope definition, timeline development, milestone tracking, supplier follow-up, risk management, action item closure, and status reporting.

  • Ability to coordinate internal resources, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to deliver automation projects aligned with safety, quality, capacity, cost, and schedule expectations.

  • Knowledge of equipment safety, machine guarding, ergonomics, maintainability, reliability, and continuous improvement principles for automated manufacturing systems.
