Job Summary

The Commodity Specialist – EE Active will be based in Taiwan Taipei Wugu Site. This role will be responsible for creating and executing on Flex Embedded Power's global strategy for the EE-Active commodities like IC, MosFet, Diode, Rectifier, Transistors, Optos. Working closely with Research and Development and our Sales and Operational Planning Teams, this individual will ensure the BU receives optimal supply assurance, pricing, flexibility, quality and delivery performance across all of Flex Embedded Power's manufacturing sites.  Individual will also be responsible for writing, negotiating and executing contracts with each supplier to ensure best in class T&Cs.  The individual will also be responsible for consolidating short and long term forecasted demand across all sites to identify gaps in supplier delivery and help plan capacity at the supplier short, medium and long term.

This position reports to Snr Manager, Commodity Manager Electrical.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Ensure the highest ethical standards of integrity and professionalism are adhered to in the procurement process in accordance with corporate requirements
  • Drive total cost of ownership improvement across the entire Embedded Power EE passive Source Supply Base.  Be able to report and clearly articulate improvements realized over time
  • Create commodity specific strategies to ensure Embedded Power Sourcing organization is keeping pace with market dynamics
  • Work directly with all layers of both large global and small regional suppliers to ensure Embedded Power is getting best in class service from its supply base
  • Support escalations from Embedded Power's manufacturing operations to ensure finished goods can me manufactured and delivered to customer requirements
  • Demonstrate an ability to consolidate demand and articulate gaps in supply both short and long term.  Actively work with suppliers to help plan capacity to meet the needs of a rapidly growing segment.
  • Negotiate and ensure adherence to Embedded Power's terms and conditions via contract creation and re-negotiation
  • Consolidate input from research and design and translate this into requirements for Embedded Power's supply base to support both projects in development as well as future projects
  • Develop and expand a Preferred Supplier List specific to Embedded Power for all regions
  • Support supplier specific issues with New Product Introduction efforts to ensure product time and cost to market meets RFQ
  • Align supplier roadmaps with Embedded Power Product Line roadmaps

The experience we're looking to add to our team:

  • Strong English Language skills required for this position
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent experience and training. A Master's or MBA degree is preferred. Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of material and manufacturing experience, including supervision.
  • Demonstrates advanced functional, technical and people and/or process management skills as well as customer (external and internal) relationship skills.
  • Demonstrates expert knowledge of the function and a thorough understanding of Flex and related business. Demonstrates knowledge of multiple functional technologies/processes, industries or functions and understanding of interdependencies of such processes at the site.
  • Must have a good knowledge of employment law and company practices, with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Good communication both in oral, writing and presentation in English
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
