Job SummaryJob summary:
To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a Process Technician (NPI – PCBA) located in Aguascalientes
The Process Technician for New Product Introduction (NPI) in PCBA is responsible for supporting the development, setup, and validation of manufacturing processes for new electronic assemblies. This role ensures that SMT and through-hole processes are properly implemented, optimized, and capable of meeting quality, yield, and cycle time targets during pilot builds and ramp-up phases.
The technician works closely with cross-functional teams including Process Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Design to troubleshoot issues, implement process improvements, and ensure smooth transition from NPI to mass production. Key responsibilities include machine setup, parameter optimization (e.g., stencil printing, pick-and-place, reflow), defect analysis, and documentation control.
The position requires strong hands-on experience with SMT equipment, the ability to interpret technical documentation (BOMs, Gerbers, drawings), and proficiency in problem-solving methodologies. The Process Technician plays a critical role in achieving stable and repeatable processes during early product lifecycle stages.
What a typical day looks like:
- Support NPI builds and pilot runs, ensuring SMT and THT processes are correctly set up and executed.
- Perform machine setup and parameter adjustments for stencil printing, pick-and-place, reflow ovens, and selective/wave soldering.
- Monitor production and analyze defects using tools such as AOI, SPI, and X-ray; drive immediate corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Process Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to troubleshoot issues and optimize process performance.
- Execute process validations and first article builds, ensuring compliance with quality and customer requirements.
- Review and interpret BOMs, Gerbers, drawings, and work instructions to ensure accurate build configuration.
- Update and maintain process documentation (WI, setup sheets, parameter logs) in accordance with change control procedures.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities, applying problem-solving tools (5 Why, Fishbone, Pareto) to reduce defects and improve yield.
- Provide real-time feedback to engineering and design teams on manufacturability (DFM/DFx).
The experience we're looking to add to our team:
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation such as BOMs, Gerbers, drawings, and work instructions.
- Familiarity with defect analysis and troubleshooting, using structured problem-solving tools (5 Why, Fishbone, Pareto).
- Basic understanding of process validation and quality standards (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001 is a plus).
- Experience with process documentation and change control systems (ECO/MCO).
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in basic data analysis tools (Excel, SPC concepts).
- Conversational English
