To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a IoT & Automation Engineer located in Guadalajara, North.

Reporting to the Information Technology Manager, IoT & Automation Engineer role will be responsible for lead the integration of Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) systems to design, implement, and optimize advanced automated manufacturing processes. Utilize a range of technologies, including PLCs, SCADA systems, sensors, actuators, and embedded systems, to enhance productivity, ensure system uptime, and maintain safety standards.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Design and implement cloud-native architectures, leveraging platforms like Azure or AWS, and manage relational databases (e.g., SQL Server).
  • Develop and maintain real-time embedded systems, SCADA applications, and communication protocols such as MQTT and OPC UA.
  • Integrate various system layers using APIs, OPC wrappers, and middleware solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT infrastructure, application development, cybersecurity, controls engineering, and operations management.
  • Configure and troubleshoot PLCs, SCADA systems, HMIs, IIoT gateways, and sensor networks.
  • Implement and monitor device and network-level cybersecurity measures.
  • Support Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and IIoT interfaces to ensure seamless data flow and process integration.

The experience we're looking to add to our team:

  • BA/BS in in Automation Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent work experience
  • In-depth knowledge of automation principles, process control, PLC systems, instrumentation, industrial electronics, robotics, and intelligent systems.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively across various organizational levels.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the capability to debug programming errors and resolve hardware failures in automated systems.
  • Experience in identifying process improvement opportunities and implementing innovative automation solutions.
  • Proficiency in establishing technical documentation, including manuals, redline drawings, training materials, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Hands-on experience with OT networks, such as Ethernet, IO-Link, AS-i, and DeviceNet.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and integrate new mechatronic technologies and solutions.
  • Advanced English level

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud-based IoT platforms like Azure IoT or AWS IoT.
  • Proficiency in programming languages and tools, including Python, PowerShell, Node-RED, Structured Text (for PLCs), SCADA systems, and SQL databases.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as MQTT, Modbus, OPC UA/DA, and Profinet.
  • Experience working with Siemens and Rockwell PLCs, as well as SCADA platforms like WinCC and FactoryTalk.

Technical Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with OT to IT integration to Manage IIoT Integration with customer DCS.
  • Study the connectivity, design, develop and integration from on-premises gateway, DCS to the cloud
    Direct work experiences with TwinCAT, testing and commissioning industrial control systems and IIoT platform.
  • Extensive experience in developing and managing dashboards and reports in any IIoT popular platforms.
    Must have knowledge of communication protocol like RS 232, TCP/IP, Modbus TCP, Profibus DP, Ethernet IP, CAN, OPC UA etc.
  • Knowledge over Electrical & instrumentation devices.
    Should have broad exposure in Measuring Devices and knowledge of sensors both analogue and digital.
  • Knowledge of data architecture, data modelling, data mapping, data analysis, and data visualization
    Practical knowledge of Heavy Industry mechanical equipment, electronics engineering design analysis and failure analysis.
  • Sound knowledge and experience in configuration of complex systems (embedded + wireless + networking + SCADA + IIoT + ADC)
  • Network configuration and diagnostics and troubleshooting such as setting up IP addresses, network segmentation and segregation; determining network performance and diagnosing communication issues in both wired and wireless.
  • Working knowledge XMPro, Aveva Pi, SAP Analytics, and Ticketing systems is a plus
