Principal Accountabilities:

  • Perform mold repair work on cavities and cores due to damage or wear. Note any changes to molds, inserts, parts, etc. Must document work and keep accurate records.
  • Dissemble and assemble molds, analyze and solve basic mold problems including flashing conditions, galling, venting, cooling problems, etc. Assemble, repair, inspect, clean and polish molds using skill and care while handling and polished "optical" or critical surfaces.
  • Plan construction procedures and methods, selecting the proper materials. Lay-out, fabricate and assembles molds also machine tool fixtures by analyzing blueprints, sketches, models and engineering or shop specification.
  • Use a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments. Sets up and operates lathes, milling machines, electrical discharge machines, surface and cylindrical grinders. Setup and operation of CNC machines.
  • Interpret drawings, evaluate machining methods on assignments and occasionally instructs apprentices or machine operators in the operation and setup of tool room equipment.
  • Compute dimensions; determine machining and material or parts required. Use SurfCAM and other CAD software. Perform mold changes & modifications 20/30
  • Perform precision work to exacting tolerances and dimensions. Use and understand CNC equipment such as Prototrak, Anilam and others.
  • Able to read, comprehend, and interpret complex instructions. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and customers.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and operations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Pay Range (Applicable to Illinois) $29.86 USD - $41.06 USD Hourly Job Category Operations
