Job Summary

Flex intends to spin off its Cloud and Power Infrastructure segment into a new, independent publicly traded company, which we're calling SpinCo, until the name is unveiled. The spin is planned for Q1 2027. If the intended spin occurs, this role will support SpinCo, which will focus on critical digital infrastructure, delivering end-to-end power and thermal management solutions for AI data centers and other mission-critical applications.

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a Process engineer located on Flex North.

Reporting to the Process Engineerthe Process engineer Responsible for developing, optimizing, and supporting structural welding and sheet metal manufacturing processes, including robotic welding programming, WPS development, and process validation. This role will drive manufacturability improvements, perform root cause analysis, ensure compliance with AWS standards, and support production, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Program and optimize robotic welding systems for structural welding and sheet metal manufacturing processes, including process parameters and welding sequence development.
  • Develop, maintain, and qualify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) in compliance with AWS standards and customer requirements.
  • Interpret technical drawings, manufacturing prints, and welding symbols to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly processes.
  • Conduct Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews to improve product quality, manufacturability, and production efficiency.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for welding and manufacturing issues, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support and optimize welding processes including MIG, TIG, Resistance Welding, and structural welding applications.
  • Lead process development, validation, and continuous improvement initiatives to increase quality, productivity, and throughput.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI), process qualification, and manufacturing readiness activities.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Production, and Operations teams to resolve technical challenges and improve manufacturing performance.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, process instructions, and welding standards.
  • Analyze process performance data and implement improvements to reduce defects, improve yields, and lower production costs.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to production personnel on welding processes, robotic systems, and best manufacturing practices.
  • Participate in equipment setup, troubleshooting, and process optimization activities to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Support compliance with safety, quality, and industry standards while driving operational excellence initiatives.

The experience we're looking to add to our team:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Welding Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Advanced English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience in welding, manufacturing engineering, or process engineering within a metal fabrication, structural welding, or sheet metal environment.
  • Experience programming robotic welding systems, including parameter development, process optimization, and welding sequence design.
  • Strong knowledge of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) development and qualification of welding processes in accordance with AWS standards.
  • Experience with MIG, TIG, Resistance Welding, and structural welding processes.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, GD&T, blueprints, and welding symbols.
  • Experience conducting Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews and supporting product/process optimization.
  • Proven experience performing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), process validation, and manufacturing transfers.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing process controls, quality systems, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality, Production, and Operations.
