Job Description

The Senior Manager - HR Compliance position will be based out of Chennai. This person will oversee and manage investigations within the country/region pertaining to labor matters.

Here is a glimpse of what you will do

  • Conduct Investigations: Oversee and manage investigations within the country/region pertaining to labor matters. Ensure that all investigations are completed thoroughly and that the company's investigation processes are strictly followed. Make and document investigations consistently in English, and ensure that all required actions resulting from investigations are completed.
  • Data Analysis on Trends: Perform detailed data analytics to identify and analyze trends related to investigations. Utilize insights gained from data analysis to inform decision-making processes and improve compliance strategies.
  • Grievance Channel Management: Oversee the management of the grievance channel to ensure all complaints are addressed promptly and appropriately.
  • Training Development and Compliance: Prepare, review, and revise labor and employment training programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Design training programs that meet legal requirements, including but not limited to Litigation Avoidance Training, Union Training, Sexual Harassment Training, and Ethics Training.
  • Risk Assessments: Conduct risk assessments and reviews of site processes, which include self-audits, spot audits, and detailed site audit activities. Work collaboratively with Site Management and HR to address identified compliance risks, implement necessary controls, and ensure continuous monitoring of compliance.
  • Legal Interpretation and Policy Application: Interpret relevant laws and regulations and ensure that legal requirements are effectively implemented in the company's policies and procedures.
  • Support in Labor Claims: Assist the legal team in responding to claims and charges from labor agencies. Facilitate mediation of claims and manage records requests and subpoenas.
  • HR Compliance Management: Manage the communication, training, and collaborate with the HR Compliance Management system within the country/region.
  • Mergers & Acquisitions Support: Assist with M&A activities within the country/region in terms related to labor compliance to ensure compliance during transitions.
  • Audits: Support efforts related to Internal Audits, ensuring alignment with Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) standards .

  • Investigative Skills
  • Strong analytical abilities to conduct thorough investigations and evaluate findings.
  • Attention to detail to ensure investigations are comprehensive and meticulous.
  • Proficiency in data analysis techniques and tools to identify trends and patterns in investigation data.
  • Ability to interpret and apply legal concepts to corporate policies and procedures.
  • Capability to perform risk assessments and audits to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
  • Excellent communication skills to develop, present, and facilitate training programs effectively.
  • Strong negotiation and mediation skills for resolving grievances and labor disputes.
  • Proven organizational skills to manage multiple projects and collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and fostering a culture of compliance.
  • Strong leadership qualities to oversee compliance initiatives and guide teams effectively.
  • Flexibility to adjust compliance strategies in response to changing regulations and organizational needs.
  • Strong sense of ethical considerations and integrity when addressing compliance issues.
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of ethics and accountability within the organization.

Here are a few of our preferred experiences

  • Bachelor's or master's degree from reputed institutions or equivalent
  • Typically requires a minimum of 8-10 years of HR, Legal/ Compliance experience, including supervision.
  • A legal degree, master's in HR degree is preferred.
