Job SummaryTo support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a Senior Subject Matter Expert – Legal Operations (AI & Transformation) in Chennai, India.
This role will play a critical part in transforming legal service delivery by scaling the adoption of AI and automation across the global legal function. The incumbent will be responsible for driving measurable efficiency, reducing manual effort, optimizing costs, and enabling attorneys to focus on higher-value strategic work.
What a typical day looks like:
Drive adoption, deployment, and scaling of AI tools (including contract review, legal research, and workflow automation tools) across the global legal function
- Design, build, and optimize legal workflows using automation tools, bots, and AI agents to streamline day-to-day legal operations
- Work hands-on with AI platforms (e.g., Harvey, Lexis AI, Copilot) to enhance legal workflows, improve turnaround time, and reduce manual effort
- Partner with global legal stakeholders to identify use cases for AI and automation, and translate them into scalable solutions
- Monitor and measure effectiveness of AI implementations, including tracking efficiency gains, cost savings, and risk mitigation
- Create playbooks, standard operating procedures, and training materials for AI-enabled legal processes
- Liaise with internal teams and external vendors to manage legal tech tools, platforms, and data systems
- Generate reports, dashboards, and insights from legal tools and databases to support decision-making
- Identify risks, raise red flags, and provide actionable recommendations to legal and business stakeholders
- Continuously explore emerging technologies in legal tech, including GenAI and automation, and recommend adoption strategies
- Collaborate with global teams across US, Europe, LATAM, and Asia to ensure consistent and scalable legal operations
The experience we're looking to add to our team:
- Bachelor's degree from a reputed university (LLB good but not mandatory)
- 2–4 years of experience in legal technology, legal operations, contract management, or similar roles in an LPO, law firm, or multinational corporation
- Hands-on experience with AI-powered legal tools (e.g., contract review platforms, legal research tools, Microsoft Copilot or similar)
- Strong understanding of Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and their application in legal workflows
- Experience in building or working with automation tools, workflows, bots, or AI agents
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- High attention to detail and ability to manage complex, high-volume workstreams
- Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with legal tech platforms and tools
- Experience in driving AI or digital transformation initiatives within legal or corporate functions
- Familiarity with concepts of machine learning, prompt engineering, and AI model evaluation
- Experience in legal tech implementation, vendor management, or tool deployment
- Ability to work in a highly cross-cultural, global environment
- Self-driven, proactive, and comfortable with ambiguity and evolving technologies
- Experience working in large legal departments or law firms
- Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to influence without authority
