Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a Test Engineer located in Flex, Aguascalientes.

Reporting to the Test Engineering Manager, the Test Engineer will be responsible for supporting AOI testing and SMT process validation in a mixed shift environment. Troubleshoots and optimizes inspection systems. Collaborates directly with clients to address technical issues, define requirements, and provide solutions.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Directs and/or coordinates inspection engineering and technical personnel in the setup, development, optimization, and sustainment of inspection processes, including AOI, SPI, X-Ray, PTH inspection, and Conformal Coating inspection systems.
  • Directs and coordinates inspection engineering activities related to the development, procurement, installation, qualification, validation, and calibration of inspection equipment and systems required to detect defects, ensure product compliance, and record inspection data.
  • Interfaces and collaborates with manufacturing, quality, process, and design engineering teams to resolve inspection-related issues such as escape defects, false calls, incomplete inspection coverage, data interpretation discrepancies, or equipment capability limitations.
  • Evaluates, analyzes, and interprets inspection data, including defect trends, measurement results, and yield indicators, and prepares technical reports to support continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and management decision-making.
  • Develops, configures, and maintains inspection programs, algorithms, libraries, and recipes for AOI, SPI, X-Ray, and Conformal Coating inspection systems to ensure robust defect detection and measurement accuracy.
  • Trains and instructs production support personnel, inspection technicians, and operators on inspection equipment operation, program usage, defect identification, acceptance criteria (IPC/Class requirements), and structured problem-solving techniques.
  • Leads inspection yield improvement initiatives by performing root cause analysis, coordinating corrective and preventive actions, monitoring defect reduction effectiveness, and optimizing inspection strategies.
  • Performs and supports equipment verification, qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ), and integration of inspection systems into production lines, ensuring alignment with process requirements and quality standards.
  • Creates, updates, and maintains inspection process documentation, including work instructions, control plans, inspection criteria, coverage definitions, and equipment validation records.
  • Actively researches and evaluates new inspection technologies, methodologies, and automation solutions to enhance defect detection capability, measurement accuracy, throughput, and overall inspection effectiveness.
  • Defines inspection conditions, parameters, acceptance criteria, and inspection sequences throughout the manufacturing process, ensuring appropriate inspection at each production phase and compliance with customer, IPC, and internal quality requirements.

The experience we're looking to add to our team:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, Electronics, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in inspection engineering within electronics manufacturing environments.
  • Strong technical knowledge of AOI, SPI, X-Ray inspection systems and defect detection methodologies.
  • Experience with PTH inspection (barrel fill, pin insertion, lifted components) and Conformal Coating inspection (presence, coverage, thickness, defects).
  • Solid understanding of IPC standards and high-reliability product requirements (Class II / Class III).
  • Experience in data analysis, yield improvement, and root cause analysis.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Ability to train and support technical and production personnel.
  • Intermediate or advance English.

Skills / Competencies Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of SPC, FMEA, Control Plans, and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Experience supporting multi-product / high-mix production environments.
  • Familiarity with inspection equipment vendors such as Koh Young, ViTrox, Magic-Ray, Pemtron, Nordson, or similar.
