The Training Specialist develops, administers, and continuously improves workforce development programs that support employee readiness, professional growth, and organizational success. Under the direction of the Knowledge Manager, the role is responsible for implementing and administering training programs, learning paths, and professional development initiatives that align with organizational objectives, operational requirements, and compliance obligations. Working closely with supervisors, subject matter experts, and Human Capital Management, the Training Specialist ensures employees receive the training, resources, and support necessary to achieve and maintain workforce readiness.
Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain corporate training programs and workforce development initiatives.
- Coordinate onboarding, qualification, proficiency, certification, compliance, and recurring training activities.
- Manage Learning Management System (LMS) content, enrollments, learner records, and reporting to ensure training data is accurate, current, and compliant.
- Monitor completion rates and compliance with requirements.
- Design, develop, and maintain e-learning content, ensuring compatibility with SCORM, AICC, and learning management systems (LMS).
- Create and maintain course materials, job aids, guides, assessments, presentations, videos, and knowledge resources.
- Update training content to reflect organizational, customer, regulatory, and system changes.
- Partner with subject matter experts and practitioners to capture operational knowledge and translate expertise into learning assets.
- Coordinate practitioner-led training sessions, workshops, knowledge-sharing events, and communities of practice.
- Assist with development and maintenance of role-based learning paths and professional development programs.
- Apply instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles to improve learner engagement and knowledge retention.
- Serve as a training resource for employees and supervisors.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Education, Instructional Design, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in training, learning and development, instructional design, workforce development, or knowledge management.
- Experience creating, publishing, and maintaining e-learning content, course materials, job aids, guides, assessments, presentations, videos, and knowledge resources.
- Experience administering a Learning Management System (LMS) and maintaining training records.
- Experience analyzing training metrics and developing reports to support workforce development initiatives.
- Experience supporting professional development, mentoring, or knowledge-sharing programs.
- Preferred:
- Experience with Learn365 or similar LMS
- Experience utilizing Power BI or similar reporting tools to analyze training data
- Experience working with adult learners in a government contracting environment
- Experience with AI assisted course development using Copilot or similar
- Professional certification in Training, Learning & Development, Instructional Design, or Adult Learning
- Knowledge of adult learning theories and instructional design methodologies.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Teams, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, and Forms.
- Familiarity with e-learning standards (SCORM, AICC) and experience publishing content from authoring tools to an LMS.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to analyze training data and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
