Description

The Maintenance Multi-Skill Technician supports the Electrical Systems Engineer by performing hands on maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of conveyance, automation, and facility equipment. This role ensures system reliability, assists with PLC related tasks under guidance, and contributes to process improvements that enhance operational efficiency across the facility.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical, electrical, and controls troubleshooting on conveyance and automation equipment. 
  • Support Electrical Systems Engineer with PLC related tasks such as verifying I/O, assisting with logic testing, and documenting code changes.  
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on motors, sensors, VFDs, conveyors, robotics interfaces, and related systems.         
  • Identify recurring equipment issues and provide detailed feedback to the SYSOPS Engineer for root cause analysis and system optimization.        
  • Assist in implementing automation upgrades, equipment modifications, and process improvements.    
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including work orders, downtime logs, and equipment performance notes.         
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations.       
  • Follow all OSHA, NFPA 70E, and facility safety standards while performing maintenance tasks.         
  • Support vendor technicians during onsite service visits and participate in equipment commissioning activities.

  • Decision making: 
    • The Maintenance Multi Skill Technician plays a key role in supporting facility automation and ensuring reliable conveyance operations. This role impacts business operations by:
    • Resolving problems: Troubleshooting equipment failures and assisting in diagnosing automation issues.
    • Providing data for decision support: Documenting equipment performance, downtime causes, and maintenance findings in partnership with the Electrical Systems Engineer.
    • Supporting process improvements: Implementing standardized procedures and providing feedback to enhance system reliability.
    • Collaborating with vendors and internal teams: Assisting with equipment installations, upgrades, and technical evaluations.
    • Participating in operational planning: Offering insights into equipment condition and maintenance needs to support automation strategies.
    • This role requires hands on work in the facility, limited travel for training or vendor support, and decision making authority related to equipment repairs and maintenance prioritization.

The anticipated rate for this position is $41.00 per hour depending on location, knowledge, skills, education and experience. In addition, we offer comprehensive and competitive benefits to Associates (and their families) such as early access to pay, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability. Eligible Associates are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan. Associates will accrue paid time off up to 152 hours per year (inclusive of PTO, floating holidays, and paid holidays). Paid sick time up to 64 hours per year unless otherwise required by law.

Requirements

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical certification or associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of experience and technical training may be considered.
  • 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, automation support, or a related technical field.
  • Hands on experience with conveyance systems, automated equipment, or high volume production environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and controls related issues.
  • Experience in performing preventive maintenance and documenting maintenance activities.
Skills (Required)
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Working knowledge of industrial automation components (sensors, relays, VFDs, motors, conveyors).
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and basic ladder logic.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, multimeters, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong communication skills, including clear documentation and effective cross team collaboration.
  • Ability to work independently, ask questions, and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Solid understanding of safety practices, including lockout/tagout and electrical safety.
Skills (Preferred / Desired)
  • Experience assisting with PLC troubleshooting (Allen Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
  • Familiarity with robotics, automated storage systems, or warehouse control systems.
  • Basic understanding of networked automation systems (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, etc.).
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CMMS systems.
  • Strong problem solving mindset with attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving technology and learn new systems quickly.
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced environment with tight production timelines.
  • Certifications such as OSHA 10, NFPA 70E, VFD training, or manufacturer specific maintenance training preferred.
Physical Requirements
DC-Non-Exempt - *Standing, walking, climbing, bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and reaching heights on an intermittent basis for up to twelve hours per day. *Grasping, pushing, and pulling of materials on an intermittent basis for up to twelve hours per day. *Reaching and working above and below the shoulder level on an intermittent basis for up to twelve hours per day. * Ability to safely team lift, lower, and move items up to 50lbs unassisted (maximum), 51+lbs assisted over the course of a work day *Sit or stand continuously for up to twelve hours per day. *Must be comfortable working with and around forklifts, conveyer systems, scissor lifts, and hazardous machinery. *Must be comfortable with performing many of the tasks listed above from a ladder up to fifteen feet in elevation above the floor surface observing safety controls. *Must utilize proper safety controls at all times. *Must be able to drive automobiles, forklifts and scissor lifts.
