Essential Duties:
Responsible for coordinating all technical activities of assigned programs including planning, scheduling, and managing personnel and engineering work to ensure effective coordination of projects. The engineering manager must possess sufficient technical knowledge of their programs to identify problems, provide guidance to staff, and be sure the work product fulfills requirements. Proactively lead improvement initiatives.
- Responsible for supervising a team of engineers on an activity and completion of activity on time & budget while meeting applicable technical requirements
- Completes annual performance review process for themselves and their direct reports
- Supervises a technical group independently
- Complies with the engineering playbook and works to optimize its
- Drives best practices and lessons learned
- Proactively drives leadership sponsored initiatives
- Manages budgets, costs and schedule inputs for design assignments
- Sets and achieves goals and assists direct reports in doing likewise
- Makes commitments and keeps them. Expects reports to do
- Drives the compliance with design to cost, weight and manufacture
- Participates in preparation of proposals
- Participates in technical reviews
- Supports, communicates, reinforces and defends the mission, values and culture of the organization
- Adheres to all quality and safety standards
- Supports other projects and performs duties as assigned
- Available for travel as required
Education/Experience/Other Skills & Abilities:
- Minimum six (6) plus years of experience
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from accredited school required; MS Engineering, PE License and/or MBA preferred
- Able to work independently on a weekly basis
- Competent technical expertise
- Possesses effective oral and written communication skills
- Comfortable with the shop/laboratory and equipment
- Possesses quality orientation and high attention to detail
- Possesses strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with customers, vendors, employees and managers at all levels within the company
- Possesses strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in standard business software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office)
