Description

Primary and Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages the SCM function for the project and BOM from Quote through FAI stage
  • Accepts and scrutinizes supplier bids and proposals and ensures competitive cost
  • Determines expected lead time and develops a schedule with critical milestones identified, providing regular report outs to ensure supplier meets the schedule
  • Selects/develops sources based upon analysis ensuring the use of the current suppliers which are determined in the sourcing strategy by the commodity team
  • Thorough analysis of all outside processing for HDT, as well as, sub suppliers
  • Provides direction regarding print/design review/technical publication, interpretation, source selection, price and terms negotiation for new products
  • Involves suppliers early in design process to optimize design and reduce cost
  • Monitors short and long term material requirement needs, develops and implements effective plans to assure material availability and capacity at selected supplier
  • Maintains product costs within established goals for each component and overall BOM
  • Maintains an in-depth working knowledge of computerized manufacturing systems: SAP, ERP, Bill of Material structure, Kanban, JIT and Lean Manufacturing concepts
  • Actively works to develop new qualified and cost effective sources of supply when a new service, process or component is identified. This also applies to new strategic low cost country initiatives gaining support and buy-in from the commodity managers
  • Ensures each BOM is loaded correctly into SAP
  • Takes a proactive role in continuous improvement of SAP and maintaining data integrity and parameters
  • Manages approval process for new suppliers including Annual Reps & Certs
  • Small Business Plan Development and Adherence
  • Develops BOM tracking for each and every part (schedule), publishes monthly reports showing on or behind schedule and parts in risk (delivery and cost)
  • Supports, communicates, reinforces and defends the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Adheres to all quality and safety standards
  • Supports other projects and performs duties as assigned

Years of Experience

Level of Education

5-7 years Supply Chain Management experience in a manufacturing environment

 

BA/BS in Business, Operations or Supply Chain Management preferred; or CPIM

  • Experience in ERP systems, SAP desired

 

Work Environment  

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job:

  • Work is accomplished in a typical office environment with adequate environmental (heating/cooling) control. The noise level in the work environment is moderate due to noises associated with computer equipment and environmental control systems. 
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets
  • Access to operations and manufacturing areas may involve exposure to loud noises, dust, fumes, oils, and fluctuations in temperature

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Performs all work in accordance with safety and workmanship and good housekeeping specifications
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee alternates between sitting and standing/walking for long periods of time
  • This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required per plant rules

 

Training  

  • New employee safety orientation and training on special tools or software required for job performance
