Join Our Collaborative Accounting & Finance Team!

We're looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant to join our dynamic and collaborative finance team. This is a great opportunity to grow your career while gaining hands-on experience across a wide range of accounting functions—including financial reporting, accounts payable, reconciliations, and general ledger management.

In this role, you'll take part in meaningful financial projects and contribute to the accuracy and efficiency of our financial operations. You'll play a key role in supporting month-end and year-end close processes, daily accounting activities, and maintaining the integrity of our financial records. You'll also have the chance to work closely with a supportive team and help drive process improvements.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide accurate and timely general ledger and fixed asset accounting.
  • Prepare monthly assigned journal entries and account reconciliations. 
  • Review invoices for appropriate documentation and approval as well as entering invoices and scheduling payments. 
  • Administer timely payment processing for checks, ACH and wire transfers. 
  • Set up and maintain an in-house accounting system according to HOK accounting procedures. 
  • Track and input budget data. 
  • Answer inquiries from staff, vendors or clients, and communicate financial information to the project accountants and Director of Finance. 
  • Maintain accounting files. 
  • Work independently to research and resolve financial issues. 
  • May provide accounting support to other staff as needed.
  • May educate and/or guide non-financial staff on accounting procedures. 
  • Take personal responsibility for fostering a green workplace through sustainable work practices.

Required Skills: 

    • Knowledge of accounting and finance principles and practices, and the analysis and reporting of financial related reports. 
    • Strong organizational and time management skills in both remote and on-site environments. 
    • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook. 
    • Proficiency in Deltek Vantagepoint or similar project accounting software preferred. 
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. 
    • Ability to work independently and within a team environment. 

 

Required Experience: 

    • Bachelor's degree in accounting and 3 plus years accounting experience; or an equivalent of education and experience required.  
    • Accounting experience in an architecture firm preferred.
