Description

We are seeking a Landscape Design Professional to join our team in Houston. This position supports project teams by assisting with planning, design, and documentation throughout all phases of a project--from early concept development through detailed design. The role involves completing basic planning assignments under clear guidance while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary project teams. Project types include landscape design and master planning/urban design efforts across Texas (Austin, Houston, and Dallas) and the Midwest (Kansas City, St. Louis, and Chicago).  HOK's landscape architects design environments that connect people to each other and to the natural world. From projects ranging from small urban sites to vast suburban areas, our landscape architects blend imaginative design with natural ecosystems to craft resilient, harmonious spaces. RESPONSIBILITIES: Works on a broad range of assignments in the delivery of all project phases through construction administration. Works to gain experience in comprehensive preparation of master plan reports, design reports/presentations, construction documentation and the construction process. Develops innovative solutions to technical and design problems following established standards.  Incorporates Integrated Sustainable Design and stormwater management solutions into projects. Displays ability to grasp design concepts and expresses them graphically. Builds models for client/project team review. Compiles data and performs elementary design computations. Performs benchmarking research on outdoor and/or development programming, comparable projects, and images. Assures HOK document standards are met and archives documents appropriately.  May assist team in construction administration document processing (RFI's and submittals) and site observations. Displays beginning level understanding of HOK design process, marketing process, and agreements. Works within budget, schedule, work plan, and constraints. Actively promotes a collaborative and innovative culture. Fosters a commitment to external and internal client service. SKILLS & COMPETENCIES: Proficiency in AutoCAD. Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Proficiency in 3D Modeling software such as Rhino, Sketchup, Enscape, and Lumion. Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign graphic software. Proficiency or working knowledge of Revit preferred. Basic knowledge of sustainability, integrated design, and LEED guidelines. Basic knowledge of QA/QC process. Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing. Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to effectively meet deadlines. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in landscape architecture or architecture plus 3 to 5 years' experience; or equivalent in appropriate education and experience required.  Master's degree in landscape architecture or urban design preferred. LEED credential required within twelve months of employment.
