Position Overview:


We’re seeking a hands-on Facilities & Automation Manager to lead all aspects of facility and grounds maintenance at our fast-paced distribution center. From managing material handling equipment (MHE) to ensuring our HVAC, automation conveyor lines, electrical systems, janitorial services, and overall infrastructure run smoothly, you’ll play a critical role in keeping operations moving efficiently and safely.


Location: On-site, Somerset, NJ- This role does not have relocation assistance
Work Schedule: 1st shift with the ability to take emergency calls before and after scheduled shifts as needed
Travel Specifics: 10%
Competitive Total Rewards: Competitive salary of $95,000–$120,000 plus yearly bonus, along with comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, generous PTO, sick time, and company holidays. Key Responsibilities



  • Manage maintenance of all facility systems including MHE, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, automated conveyor belts, automated package sorters, and more.

  • Develop and maintain preventive maintenance programs, SOPs, and best practices.

  • Prioritize and schedule maintenance activities to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.

  • Perform routine inspections and repairs on building systems and equipment.

  • Coordinate with vendors for supplies, repairs, and ongoing service contracts.

  • Monitor and report on maintenance metrics, analyzing trends for continuous improvement, and balancing workload based on priority in maintenance tracking system.

  • Track inventory, manage spare parts, and complete associated documentation.

  • Perform light facility maintenance including painting, caulking, and lighting replacements.

  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA standards and company safety protocols.

  • Support corporate and site-specific Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP); report any non-compliance.

  • Assist in cross-building equipment moves as needed.

  • Maintain detailed service records and ensure timely reporting of all issues and repairs.



Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma required; relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of an associate's degree or technical certification in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, HVAC, or a related field
  • 5+ years of maintenance experience in a warehouse, distribution center, manufacturing, or industrial facility is required
  • 3+ years of experience in a people leadership role directly managing direct reports
  • Hands-on experience maintaining and repairing facility systems such as automated material handling equipment (MHE), HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and automated conveyor systems is required
  • Demonstrated ability to perform preventive maintenance tasks and routine inspections on all warehouse automation systems
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards and company safety protocols
  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or similar platform for logging and prioritizing work orders
  • Ability to perform light facility repairs, including painting, caulking, and lighting
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills, including tracking inventory and service records
  • Ability to coordinate with third-party vendors for parts, repairs, and services
  • Flexibility to support equipment moves and assist across multiple facility buildings as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree or technical certification in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, HVAC, or a related field
  • Experience in facilities that operate under GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) or FDA-regulated environments
  • Prior experience developing preventive maintenance schedules, SOPs, and maintenance best practices
  • Familiarity with automated conveyor belts, sorters, or robotics in high-volume logistics or e-commerce operations
  • Demonstrated success in analyzing maintenance metrics and driving process improvements
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification or other safety-related training/certifications
  • Experience managing service contracts and vendor relationships
