Position Description:
You will work with a team of highly technical satellite systems engineers responsible for safe and efficient integration and operation of satellite systems. You will learn the basics of space systems engineering, satellite subsystems, and operations principles. You will develop and implement tools to maximize operational safety and streamline the performance of engineering analysis tasks.
Job Responsibilities: Work with MATLAB to develop new tools and continued improvement of existing tools for data gathering and analysis of satellite subsystems. Tools include but are not limited to large scale data retrieval and manipulation, analysis of electrical power subsystems such as solar array capacity, lifetime performance, and degradation analysis. Design visualization tools for real time spacecraft telemetry and state of health for next generation satellites such as the Northrop Grumman Mission Extension Pod.
Preferred Qualifications
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline.
- Interest in space and spacecraft operations and engineering.
- Capability to apply engineering principles and practices across spacecraft applications of engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, thermal logic, computer application.
- Proficiency in MS Office Visio
- Proficiency in MATLAB programming language
- Some familiarity with Object Oriented Programming Languages (for example Python, Java, C++)
- Ability to analyze time varying data in plots or tables for specific signatures.
12 Week Schedule:
- Week 1-3: Satellite engineering and operations basics and fleet 2 introduction.
- Week 4-6: MATLAB tool development.
- Week 7-10: Engineering data displays creation and improvement.
- Week 10-12: Continued development of tools and displays, final project presentation.
Minimum Requirements (these are listed on every Intern Job description/do not change):
- Eligible candidates must be one of the following:
- Part-time or full-time students who have completed 24+ credit hours (rising sophomores/juniors/seniors) and are enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university; Part-time or full-time students enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited college or university
- May 2025 graduate
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism, and maturity in the workplace
- Effective communicator in both written and spoken English
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in use of MSOffice Suite
- 3.0 GPA or above preferred
- This role is subject to ITAR/EAR; candidates must be a US Person (this includes US Citizen, Permanent Resident or Protected Individual such as an asylee or refugee).
Summer Intern Program Description:
- Paid ; 12 weeks starting on Monday, May 26, 2025 through August 15, 2025
- Schedule - 40 hours/week, Monday- Friday, 9 – 5 or regular core hours
- Hybrid environment (minimum 3 days in office location)
