Business Development Director – Clean Energy (Remote, with Travel)

We are seeking individuals in the Southern California, Northern California, Denver/Salt Lake, and Chicago/Minneapolis regions for this position.
Intertek's Clean Energy Associates (CEA) serves as a trusted partner to some of the world's leading solar project developers, owners and financiers, providing a range of services across the value chain. These services include quality assurance, supply chain management and traceability as well as technical support to clean energy projects. What are we looking for?
The Business Development Director position is responsible for the growth of assigned accounts as well as identifying and developing strategic new business opportunities. This position will involve 25-50% of the time traveling.
Salary & Benefits Information
The base wage or salary range for this position is approved for a base salary starting up to $250,000 and an addition compensation plan. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.

What you'll do:
- Achieve all sales targets, including quotes, orders, revenue, etc.
- Effectively research potential new customers and anticipate/identify customer needs.
- Develop and execute strategic plans to develop accounts with new customers.
- Develop and execute strategic plans to win additional business from key accounts through new contacts/services.
- Develop highly valuable relationships with customer contacts to ensure account growth and achievement of targets.
- Resolve customer needs, issues, and complaints in an efficient and effective manner. Provide superior service.
- Collaborate with Marketing to develop and implement marketing strategies.
- Monitor competitor activities and recommend and execute changes to strategic plans as needed.
- Present services to customers on a regular basis via on-site visits, virtual meetings, etc.
- Develop competitive and accurate proposals to win business.
- Update the CRM database in a timely manner, including all customer contact.
- Facilitate account transition between inside and outside sales team as needed.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the industry, including local manufacturers and distributors.
- Collaborate with the technical team to provide comprehensive pre- and post-sales support and ensure a seamless customer experience.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging technologies. Identify new opportunities for growth and provide valuable insights to the sales, operations and marketing teams.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
- University Degree in Business Management, Engineering, Renewables or Electronics is preferred but not required.
- 5+ years successful direct sales, account management or business development experience within the renewable solar energy or related industries.
- 5+ years B2B sales experience.
- Must be able to learn, understand and effectively articulate CEA's service offerings, including technical concepts related to solar energy systems.
- Must be able to consistently close deals to achieve order and revenue targets.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and safe driving record.
- Ability to effectively influence client decisions and negotiate competitive deals.

- Ability to travel as business needs dictate (25-50%)
