Laboratory Supervisor - Minerals - Kershaw, South Carolina

What are we looking for?

Under the direction of the Laboratory Manager, the Lab Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the laboratory while managing a small team to ensure compliance with both Intertek and Client laboratory operating procedures, policies, standards and relevant legislation. 

Shift/Schedule: 12 hour rotating shifts

What you'll do:

  • Supervise the day-to-day operation of site facilities to ensure services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality standards

  • Coordinate and supervise preventative maintenance activities in accordance with approved maintenance schedules and site requirements

  • Maintain accurate documentation of processes, maintenance activities, and records

  • Conduct testing and reporting in accordance with laboratory work instructions, test methods, preparation instructions, and relevant manuals

  • Supervise, support, and motivate a team of Technicians to achieve day-to-day operational, safety, and quality objectives

  • Ensure the laboratory is maintained in accordance with ISO17025 accreditation requirements and applicable standards

This position outline is a general guideline and does not represent all encompassing details. The position assumes that the incumbent has both the mental and physical requirements to carry out the above defined duties. 

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in  Science
  • Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory procedures, standards, and quality systems applicable to minerals testing environments, including sound working knowledge of Intertek policies, procedures, and quality systems
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience supervising in a minerals laboratory, with exposure to sample preparation systems, fire assay analysis, carbon sulfur analysis, Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (AAS), cyanide analysis and laboratory data entry processes
  • Valid driver's license and reliable driving record is required
  • Comply with all applicable work instructions, work procedures, safe work procedures, safe work instructions, and lawful directions provided by the Lab Manager - Minerals, whether written or verbal
  • Participate in risk management activities, including the completion of risk assessments and hazard controls

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • At least two years of experience supervising a Gold or Base Metals mine site laboratory shift or team
