Senior Accountant- Cash Applications
Intertek is searching for a Senior Accountant - Cash Applications to join our team in the Arlington Heights, Illinois office.
The Senior Accountant is responsible for accurately and efficiently applying cash batches received via ACH, Wire or in the lockbox and managing credit card payments. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to handle high-volume transactions in a fast-paced environment. This role has an annual salary range of $68,000 - $76,000.
Reporting Structure
This position reports to the Senior Accounting Manager.
What you'll do:
- Cash Application & Payment Processing:
- Enter, post, and reconcile incoming daily cash receipts including wire transfers, ACH credits, credit card payments and check and lockbox deposits.
- Process and reconcile account receivables and remittances
- Address payment issues like double payments or other discrepancies
- Engage in collection management processes as necessary
- Researching and resolving customer account issues
- Update/Maintain credit notes in customer files denoting correspondence and other account activity.
- Researching and reconciling open AR credits/refunds.
- Monitor and resolve bank issues including fee anomalies and check differences;
- Prepare relevant journal entries;
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Support cash application reconciliation efforts and assist with resolving unapplied payments.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including Accounts Receivable, Billing, and Treasury, to streamline cash application processes.
- Assist in process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency.
- Assist with preparation for and coordination of the audit process relating to Accounts Receivables;
- Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Requirements and Qualifications
- Experience & Technical Skills:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in cash applications or accounts receivable.
- Strong numerical skills and proficiency with calculators and basic math.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; familiarity with PDF editing preferred.
- Experience with Lawson Accounting Software is a plus but not required.

Preferred Qualifications
- Related degrees in Business or Finance fields are also acceptable, if accompanied with relevant work experience
