Technical Sales Representative, Building and Construction (On-site)
Intertek is searching for a Technical Sales Representative (Construction Services) to join our Building & Construction team in our Coquitlam, BC office. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in Building and Construction!
Intertek is growing and we are looking for a Technical Sales Representative (Construction Services) to help us make an impact in the Construction industry! The ideal candidate will have B2B sales experience and a background in construction project estimating. The Technical Sales Representative will be responsible for identifying on-site material testing bidding opportunities, responding to RFP's/RFQ's, and tracking project developments through to award. The Technical Sales Representative will possess a desire to represent Intertek in the field and a sound understanding of the construction project space (estimating, on-site testing requirements), with superior tracking and time management skills.
REPORTING STRUCTURE
This position reports to the Sales Director, Canada. The position is located at Intertek's Coquitlam, BC campus. This is an on-site position.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
- Receiving, reviewing, responding to, and tracking project RFP's/RFQ's
- Monitoring and leveraging construction project platforms to identify and develop bidding opportunities
- Ongoing prospect and client outreach through, but not limited to, in-person sales activity, lunch and learn initiatives, industrial events, etc.
- Creating project bid packages
- Following up open bids and tracking follow up results
- Maintaining an accurate opportunity pipeline at all times
- Preparing activity/proposal/award reports, as required
- Consistently contribute to achieving regional sales/order/revenue targets
- Perform other work as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- University Degree Preferred. College Diploma in related field acceptable
- 2+ years' successful construction project experience. Preferably in on-site quality testing/coordination, project estimating, or relevant
- 2+ years' experience successfully collaborating with technical/non-technical stakeholders and decision makers. Experience with General Contractors (GC's), municipalities, and/or townships is considered an asset
- Must be self-motivated and effective in a fast-paced environment
- Superior time management, tracking, and relaying ability
- Experience with DODGE Analytics, Construct Connect, Bids & Tender, or similar is considered an asset
- Must possess excellent collaboration and written/oral communication skills
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong knowledge of common computer systems (i.e. Microsoft Office) is essential
- Experience working with diverse teams (GC's, municipalities, procurement, contracts) required
- Frequent day travel can be expected (no overnight travel)
- Physical dexterity/mobility to travel via car and perform all clerical functions inherent to the position.
